Look out for Older People this Winter say charities

Age Concern Cymru and Help the Aged in Wales are urging communities in Wales to look out for older people this Winter, particularly if the cold weather snap continues. 

The Keep Well This Winter Campaign, which is coordinated by Age Concern Cymru, provides a wide range of information about maintaining good health during the winter months including advice on claiming benefits and financial assistance for older people, staying active, stocking up your cupboard and plenty of other useful winter tips.

Advocacy Counts 2 is Launched

Age Concern Cymru’s Elder Abuse Project has carried out its second survey on advocacy provision for older people in Wales and it found no significant rise in the provision of these vital services, despite the fact that shortages were highlighted in last year’s survey.

Age Concern Benefits Checker
With increases in the cost of living, older people on fixed incomes can find it difficult to make ends meet. Despite this, it is estimated that £4.6 billion in benefits go unclaimed by older people every year. Therefore, Age Concern has launched an online calculator enabling you to work out how much you could claim.
