The Equalities and Inclusion team recognise that society is made up of a hugley diverse population and strives to engage with all older people.  Each person has the right to be treated equally regardless of their background or the circumstances surrounding them.

Networks

A number of networks have been set up in order to work along side minority groups to enable their voices to be heard.  We work very closely with the following networks:

Older Minority Ethnic Network (OME)

Older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Network (OLGBT)

 

Employment Equality Regulations

In 2006 new regulations came into place stating that it is illegal for employers to discriminate against people on the grounds of age.

Mental Health Inquiry

Age Concern and the Mental Health Foundation lanched the UK Inquiry into Mental Health and Well-being in Later Life in 2003 because of a shared concern that mental health in later life is a much neglected area.
