9th Global Conference on Ageing and Expo Ageing & Design

From September 4 to 8, 2008, the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) will present:

- The IFA's 9th Global Conference on Ageing: September 4-6, 2008

- The 1st Expo Ageing and Design Montreal 2008: September 4-8, 2008

- Ageing and Design Conference: September 6-8, 2008

- The Exposition of Design for and Ageing Society: September 5-8, 2008

The 9th Global Conference on Ageing and the 1st Expo Ageing & Design Montreal 2008 will bring together leading designers, architects, manufacturers, retailers, academics, service providers, policy-makers, planners, developers and government agencies from all parts of the world to showcase their innovative products and designs and discuss supportive policies and practices.

It will also be a venue for corporations, governments and non-governmental organisations, academic institutions and civil society to foster partnerships, promote marketing opportunities, discuss trade agreements and develop export opportunities.

These international events will highlight how an environment can be designed to support people as they age and enhance the quality of life of older people.

In 2008 the IFA will convene a special meeting of Senior Officials from governments across the world to explore models of 'ageing in place', a challenge facing every government.

This meeting follows a successful event in 2006 in Copenhagen where over 80 officials from 43 developing, transition and developed countries met to share experiences and examine the implications for policy and practice, of designing and implementing pension reforms.
