Types of Air Conditioning
There are many different types of air conditioning all of which have pros and cons and suit a particular purpose. Some of these types of air conditioning such as an evaporative cooler would not be appropriate for installation in properties in Wales as they are only effective in permanently hot climates.
The main types of air conditioning equipment for you to consider are portable air conditioning units and split air conditioning systems.
Portable air conditioning
Portal air conditioning units are an affordable way of getting an air conditioning system in your home or office. They can also work to improve the effect of any old air conditioning system you have installed. Portable air conditioning units are relatively compact and can easily be moved around, from room to room or even another house of office as required. The portable air conditioning unit needs to be placed near a window or external door so the hose can send the hot air outside whilst the air conditioning produces cooler, fresher air.
These are very convenient and when not in use they can be easily stored, perfect for people who are short of space or prefer a minimalist room.
The affordability and convenience of these portable air conditioning units make them a popular option for many.
Split air conditioning
Split air conditioning units are another type of air conditioning which is popular in Wales and the rest of the UK. A split air conditioning unit is a permanent unit which is “split” with one half on the inside of the property and the other half on the outside. The compressor unit which powers the air conditioning is installed on the outside of the room.
Split air conditioning units tend to have more features than portable air conditioning units such as climate control and a thermostat. As the air is not just cooled, it is cleaned, air filters will need to be regularly changed to keep the air conditioning unit working effectively and to its full ability.
There are various sizes of split air conditioning units and you need to consider the size of the room you wish to condition and how hot the room tends to get in sunny periods.
The main disadvantage is the fact you cannot more the device around when you move rooms and if you wish to air condition more than one room in the building you will have to install additional units which may prove costly. This is why split air conditioning units tend to prove popular in large open plan offices.
